Choice of Detector

Well, I am getting much closer to making the choice of my first detector. It is now down to two and only one of those is from my three selections in my last blog.

They are the XP Deus and the Minelab E-TRAC. After attending my first meeting of the Brisbane Metal Detecting Club last Thursday (17 Jan) and speaking with a few experienced members and one of the training officers, they all suggested the E-TRAC.

The prices are not too far off each other with the E-TRAC being the cheaper by approx. $150 (thats off the RRP). Another thing going for the E-TRAC is that one of the members of the club is a Minelab dealer. A lot of members have bought through him.

Like I said in my last blog, the things I like about the XP Deus is the weight, it being wireless, up-dateable and rechargeable. Is it worth the extra $150 over the E-TRAC? I know a lot of people will be saying "no".

Honestly, I think it is going to come down to what discount the Minelab dealer can offer me. I am well into Andy Sabisch's book at the moment in the hope I am offered a reasonable discount.

Keep you posted.
